# Newton Metrics API documentation and MCP server | Newton Metrics

# Newton Metrics developer resources

Find published help for clinical documentation, objective assessments, ForcePod, exercise programs, and progress tracking. The public documentation API is read-only and requires no account, API key, or payment.

## First request

```
curl "https://www.newtonmetrics.com/api/v1/docs?query=forcepod"
```

The JSON results include a guide ID, title, description, and Markdown URL. Fetch the full guide with GET /api/v1/guides/forcepod/connect-your-forcepod. Search accepts a required query of 1–200 characters and returns up to 20 matching guides. Empty results mean no match.

Start at [/api/v1](/api/v1). The [OpenAPI specification](/openapi.json) describes every public documentation operation and its response schemas.

## Documentation MCP server

Connect an MCP client to https://www.newtonmetrics.com/mcp using stateless Streamable HTTP. The server supports search_docs and get_guide. No credentials are needed. POST JSON-RPC with Content-Type: application/json and Accept: application/json, text/event-stream. Initialize, send the initialized notification, then list or call tools. JSON responses are supported; a standalone GET event stream is not provided.

```
{
"mcpServers": {
"newton-metrics-docs": {
"url": "https://www.newtonmetrics.com/mcp"
}
}
}
```

## NLWeb search and structured feeds

POST /ask with {"query":{"text":"connect a forcepod"}} for NLWeb v0.55 conversational search results. This uses keyword retrieval over published guides, supports list mode, and does not generate answers or use conversation memory. Set prefer.streaming to true for SSE start, result, error, and complete events. Unsupported formats or modes return protocol failures.

The [schema map](/schemamap.xml), advertised in robots.txt, links to a [JSON Lines feed of published guides](/feeds/docs.jsonl).

## Authentication and scope

These interfaces expose published documentation only. They cannot access client records, generate clinical notes, modify exercise programs, or create purchases. Product login is separate. No public clinical API, product MCP, OAuth issuer, agent credential registration, or sandbox is provided by this website. See [authentication guidance](/auth.md).

## Errors and safe testing

REST errors have an error object with code, message, and hint. Invalid search queries return 400, missing guides return 404, and unsupported methods return 405. MCP uses JSON-RPC errors and tool error results. You can test the public documentation endpoints directly: they have no write operations or clinical data. No application-level rate limit is advertised; hosting protection may still apply.

Browsers with WebMCP support can search and read the same guides through registered in-page tools. Browsers without that draft API can use these REST or MCP endpoints.
